Current Needs
Prayer
We appreciate your prayers for us as we minister
in Ukraine. Here are some specific prayer requests:
 | Pray for the Christian
Reformed Church in Mukachevo, the church plant that we are working with, for
growth in numbers, deeper commitment of members and regular attendees, and a
local pastor to work alongside George. |
 | Pray that the church can find property on which
to build a church. |
 | One of our greatest long-term
needs is for a local person who can share the teaching and preaching
responsibilities for the congregation and eventually become the head pastor.
A seminarian has expressed interest in an intern position but wants the
blessing of the Hungarian-speaking Reformed Church of Carpathian Church before
he begins. Pray that this process will go
forward with God's direction and blessing. |
 | The congregation pours a lot of time into
training the youth of the congregation and conducting outreach to the youth of
the community. Here are some of those events: Sunday School, Catechism,
two youth groups for different ages of young people, monthly English club,
week-long English club in the summer, annual youth festival, VBS, etc.
Pray that God would bless these efforts and raise up a generation of young
people who are serious about their faith and living transformed lives. |
 | Our spiritual growth - that
we may daily take time to be with God in prayer and reading His word and grow in
our spiritual walk with the Lord. It is easy to be worn down and
over-committed in doing "good work" for God and at the same time neglect our
own spiritual health. |
 | Physical health - that we would all remain
healthy. There is a mold growing in the plaster of our walls and we are
concerned that it may be contributing to Matthew's breathing problems when he
gets a cold. |
Financial
 | Regular support - For the 2008-2009 fiscal year we have been challenged to help
raise $66,000.
This is 60% of the
average cost to keep a missionary family on the field. Contributions towards our support can be sent to CRWM, 2850 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand
Rapids, MI 49560, and designate it as "de Vuyst support". You may
also contribute to
CRWM online. |

Special Giving -
In addition to our general support, there are
special projects which need financial support. These special projects are
listed in CRWM's "Project
Giving Guide". Two projects for Ukraine are still in need of funding:
* New church development grant of $1,000.
This grant helps the Christian Reformed Church in Mukachevo with special
expenses.
* Local missionary support of $2,400. This
support goes to help local missionaries and church leaders whose financial
support base is very limited.
You can contribute to these needs by check,
credit card, or online donation.
Please be sure to be specific in your designation by writing "Ukraine church
development grant" or "Ukraine local missionary support."
All
contributions are handled through the CRWM office at 2850 Kalamazoo Ave. SE,
Grand Rapids, MI 49560. Contact
Marcea Holtrop
at 616-224-0702 with questions. Online donations can be
made at www.crwm.org/donate.
